What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are gels made mainly of hyaluronic acid (HA), a sugar molecule your skin already makes that holds water and gives it plumpness. As we age we lose HA, collagen and fat, and the face can look hollow or tired. Fillers restore that support precisely where it’s needed.
How it works
- Consultation and facial analysis. Dr. Arwa looks at proportions, symmetry and structure, not just the one area you want to treat.
- Comfort. Most fillers contain local anaesthetic, and numbing cream is applied beforehand.
- Placement. Filler is placed with a fine needle or a blunt micro-cannula, depending on the area, to reduce bruising.
- Review. You are welcome back after two weeks, once swelling has settled.
Aftercare
- Avoid touching or pressing the area for 6 hours.
- No make-up on injection points for 12 hours.
- Avoid heat, saunas and intense exercise for 48 hours.
- Sleep with your head slightly raised the first night to reduce swelling.
Results vary from person to person. A medical consultation is required to confirm suitability.
