What is Botox?

Botox is the best-known brand of botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein that temporarily relaxes the specific muscles that crease the skin. When those muscles relax, the lines above them soften and new lines are less likely to deepen. Other approved brands (such as Botulax, Dysport or Xeomin) work in the same way. Dr. Arwa will recommend the most suitable product for you.

How it works

  1. Consultation. We assess your facial anatomy, how your muscles move and your medical history, then agree on a plan.
  2. Mapping. Injection points are marked while you make expressions, so the dose follows your muscle pattern.
  3. Treatment. Tiny amounts are placed with an ultra-fine needle. It usually takes less than 20 minutes.
  4. Review. At two weeks we check the result and fine-tune if needed.

Botox is also a medical treatment. It is used for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and to relax an overactive masseter muscle in people who clench or grind their teeth.

Aftercare

  1. Stay upright for 4 hours and don't massage the treated area.
  2. Skip strenuous exercise, saunas and facials for 24 hours.
  3. Come back for your 2-week review if anything feels uneven.

Results vary from person to person. A medical consultation is required to confirm suitability.

Questions about Botox

Will I still look like myself after Botox?

Yes. Dr. Arwa uses conservative, precisely placed doses so lines soften while your natural expressions stay. The goal is that you look rested, not "done".

Does Botox hurt?

Most patients describe a quick pinch. Very fine needles are used and a cold pack or numbing cream can be applied for sensitive areas.

At what age can I start Botox?

There is no fixed age. It depends on your skin, muscle activity and whether lines stay visible at rest. Dr. Arwa will advise honestly during your consultation. Sometimes skincare alone is the better first step.

Who should not have Botox?

Botox is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with certain neuromuscular conditions, or with an active infection at the injection site. Please share your full medical history at consultation.
